Updated: Jun 30, 2024

Union Minister of IT Ashwini Vaishnaw, speaking at News18 Network’s ‘News18 Rising Bharat Summit’ in New Delhi on March 19, revealed that India's first domestically manufactured chip will hit the market by December 2024. He highlighted India's emergence as an electronics hub, noting that the country exports approximately $1 billion worth of telecommunication equipment.

Additionally, Vaishnaw announced that chips from Tata Electronics and CG Power's Dholera plant will be available by the end of 2026, with Micron's plant chips expected by December 2024. Looking ahead, he expressed confidence that India will rank among the top five global chip ecosystems by 2029. Regarding the railways, Vaishnaw credited the BJP-led government for transforming the sector from a political tool to a foundation for growth over the past decade, citing positive feedback from railway employees about future planning initiatives.
